The seminar series based on the anthology "Global Challenges – Local Solutions: Research for a Sustainable Societal Development in Northern Sweden" continues with perspective 2, which deals with "Natural resources, climate and environmental sustainability".

"Our research on the natural landscape, its diversity, local self-sufficiency, nature experiences, tourism and circular processes constitutes a solid knowledge base for dealing with the challenges that a sustainable use of northern Sweden's natural resources entails," says Peter Fredman. Editor and Professor of Tourism Studies.

Preliminary program (room O212, Östersund). The times are adapted to suit the Östersund-Sundsvall trains. The seminar is also open to external, invited guests.

PROGRAM

 

Part 1, Morning – 11:00-12:00 

 

a) Introduction by the editor (15 min): 

   - Peter Fredman will provide an overview of the perspective on sustainable societal development in northern Sweden.

 

b) Panel discussion (45 min): 

   - Moderators: Anna Olofsson and Hans-Erik Nilsson 

   - Panelists: Sandra Wall-Reinius, Lovisa Högberg, Mikael Bäckström, and Oskar Englund 

   - Panel discussion including questions from the audience 

 

Lunch break with free salad – 12:00-12:30 

 

Part 2, Afternoon – 12:30-14:00 

 

a) Advice on research applications (30 min): 

   - Presented by research advisors from GIO, focusing on coming calls and best practices. 

 

b) Match-making and mingling (45 min): 

   - Discussion on future research collaborations and applications. 

 

c) Summary (15 min): 

   - Closing remarks and information about upcoming activities.
