Invitation to submit presentations
At the Åre Risk Event on 16-19 April 2024, we would like organisations outside the research community to present their experiences in the area of risk and crisis preparedness and sustainable societies. You are welcome to submit suggestions for oral presentations to the conference.
This year’s conference is called “Crisis Preparedness in a Changing World”. In recent years, we have suffered a series of global crises, including the pandemic, climate change and extreme weather, energy crisis in Europe, disruption of supply chains, disinformation campaigns and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The purpose of the conference is to highlight how these events have affected assessments of future risks, contingency planning and crisis management procedures at global, national, regional and local levels.
Åre Risk Event brings together researchers, practitioners in risk and crisis management and representatives of private, public and voluntary organisations to exchange knowledge and experience. The programme is still preliminary but consists of lectures and presentations, interspersed with workshops and exchange of experience in smaller groups. Among the lecturers are Johan von Schreeb, professor of global disaster medicine, and Olena Muradyan, head of war-torn Karazin Kharkiv National University in Ukraine.
The conference is aimed at you with an interest in risk assessment, crisis management and sustainable local communities and we welcome presentations in the area of risk and crisis preparedness and sustainable communities in the broad sense. Have you done any study, project, evaluation or anything else that you would like to share? Or have you been forced to act on unexpected crisis situations and adapt your working methods and routines? We would like you to present your experience to our conference participants!
Please send a summary of no more than 350 words by 20 December by e-mail to rcr@miun.se. Your summary should include your name, organisation affiliation and contact details. On 20 January 2024, we will announce which presentations have been accepted.
