Title: An environmental perspective on risk and crisis

Presenter: Oskar Englund, professor in Environmental Engineering, specialized in land-use sustainability.

In this seminar, we will explore intersections between socio-ecological systems and societal risk, highlighting how environmental degradation intensifies crisis vulnerability and amplifies hazards. We will examine the complex dynamics of environmental risk factors such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource scarcity, and the critical role of environmental sustainability in reducing systemic risks and mitigating crises. Finally, we will take a look at how we can use plants strategically for proactive crisis management and resilience-building.

The presentation will be held in English.
