Hi Clara Climent‑Oltra!
Tell us about your background
I come from the Catholic University of Valencia in Spain where I am part of the research group on Mountain Sports: Health, Inclusion and Society. I am in my second year of my doctoral thesis, developing a model of inclusive hiking for people with disabilities using the mountain chair Joëlette.
Why did you choose to come to ETOUR?
I am doing the international programme within the UCV doctoral school. So I choose ETOUR, because accessible tourism is a big link in the model I design. At ETOUR, there are great professionals who study the area of accessible tourism, and I wanted to learn more about them and their studies and projects.
What do you wish to gain from your time here?
On the one hand, the ability to gain more competence on a professional and personal level, learning from my new colleagues.
What experiences have you had so far?
On a professional level, I had a visit from my supervisor from the UCV, where we held a seminar on outdoor sports for people with disabilities. I have also had the opportunity to attend the fantastic seminars held by my colleagues from ETOUR. I have also been learning about the doctoral studies of my colleagues - how it works during the PhD years, what resources they have, what skills they acquire, etc. It's amazing! And on a personal level, I'm learning more about English, learning how to cross country ski, and learning about the culture in Jämtland.
Do you have any special memories from your time at ETOUR?
The warm welcome I got from the first day, being here is a great opportunity for me.
