We work intensively to support and drive the development of sustainable materials and manufacturing processes based on renewable forest resources.
Our focus is on improving the properties, functionality, and environmental sustainability of wood, fiber, and cellulose materials, as well as developing new materials with innovative applications.
We are developing methods and methodologies that can be used to enhance and resource-efficient industrial manufacturing processes. For example, we are researching how to alter properties such as strength, flexibility, and water resistance in fiber-based materials to meet the needs of future packaging materials. Another exciting area is the development of biocomposites and materials made from the various components of wood, which can replace fossil-based materials in a range of products.
