Congratulations to Dr. Farnaz Khodakhah on Earning Her PhD in Computer Engineering

We are proud to announce that Farnaz Khodakhah has successfully defended her doctoral thesis in Computer Engineering, titled “Medium Access Design for 5G and Beyond: Multi-Service Coexistence and Collaboration Strategies”, at Mid Sweden University.
The defense took place with Associate Professor Israel Leyva Mayorga from Aalborg University, Denmark, serving as the opponent. The examining committee included Dr. Hans-Peter Bernhard from Silicon Austria Labs and Johannes Kepler University Linz, Associate Professor Hossein Fotouhi from Mälardalen University, and Dr. Kia Wiklundh from FOI, Sweden.
In her research, Farnaz presents innovative solutions for medium access (MA) in next-generation wireless networks. Her work focuses on enabling efficient coexistence and collaboration between a variety of services, using novel non-orthogonal access techniques. These strategies aim to address key challenges related to spectral efficiency, low-latency communication, and adaptive resource allocation — essential components of future 5G and beyond networks.
Her doctoral journey was supervised by Professor Mikael Gidlund, Associate Professor Aamir Mahmood, and Associate Professor Patrik Österberg.
