Hybrid work in a 3:2 model

This project investigates performance and well-being when hybrid work is scheduled in a 3:2 model with office sharing between two organizations. The employees have access to office premises three or two days a week, on other days, work is carried out remotely.

Background

In recent years, work-life has been unprecedented as the pandemic moved boundaries and forced millions of people to work remotely. Nowadays, countless reports and trend surveys show that most office workers desire to perform their work onsite and remotely. Several studies and reports also show that the flexibility of the hybrid work model has been beneficial for performance and well-being. However, unregulated hybrid work has also led to challenges such as increased feelings of loneliness, difficulties in creating team spirit, and uncertainty in how to lead a hybrid team.

As the hybrid work model is becoming increasingly popular, property owners face a reality where tenants simultaneously want to reduce their office space and have climate-smart use of the offices. An exciting and promising solution could be scheduled hybrid work with shared office spaces.

Aim

The study aims to investigate the employees' experience of scheduled hybrid work in a 3:2 model with shared office spaces via commissioned research using a mixed method. The experiences, i.e., the conditions, are then compared to the performance and well-being outcome.
