Mathematics researcher at conference in Brazil
On March 10 to 15, Andreas Lind, Deputy Head of Department and Associate Professor of Mathematics at Mid Sweden University, together with his doctoral student Benjamin Marim de Moura, participated in the conference Geometria métrica e Topologia do Nordeste in Caponga, Brazil.
The conference was organized by Lev Birbrair, professor at the Federal University of Ceará, and brought together researchers in mathematics with a focus on singularity theory and Bi-Lipschitz geometry.
The conference, which has been organised on several occasions by different researchers, is an important meeting place for researchers in mathematics and offers opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange. This year's theme revolved around singularity theory, an area of mathematics that has links to complex analysis. At Mid Sweden University, research in this area is conducted by Andreas Lind, Aurélio Menegon and their joint doctoral student Benjamin Marim de Moura.
Attending international conferences like this is of great importance for researchers, especially for those who are new to the field.
"As a new person in the field of singularity theory, it is worth its weight in gold to meet other people in the field," says Andreas Lind.
Exchange that strengthens research
Meetings with research colleagues from different contexts not only provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, but also to create collaborations that can strengthen one's own research.
Among the most prominent participants at the conference was Lev Birbrair himself, who since the 1990s has been a leading researcher in Bi-Lipschitz geometry. Emeritus Professor Maria Aparecida Ruas from the University of São Paulo also participated. She is one of the foremost in the field in Brazil and an internationally recognized expert in the field.
"Participation in the conference has been a valuable experience for us and contributes to strengthening research in singularity theory and Bi-Lipschitz geometry at Mid Sweden University," says Andreas Lind.
