Publish Theses
The Mid Sweden University theses are published in accordance with the Vice-Chancellor´s decision Dnr BIB 2004/13 in two series – one for Doctoral theses and one for Licentiate theses. According to the same ruling the theses should also be made available in digital form.
The theses should be written in the template provided by Mid Sweden University in Word to comply with the Law on Accessibility to Digital Public Services. The templates are available directly in Word if you are a PC user. An installation package is required if you are using a Mac; read more about office templates.
Mid Sweden University theses are published both in printed and digital form. The printing is usually done by the Mid Sweden University printing service, the digital publishing is done through DiVA.
ISBN
Your thesis should be assigned ISBN and ISSN and a number in the Doctoral or Licentiate thesis series. Use our form to order an ISBN.
Printing
Contact the Mid Sweden University Printing Office in advance to make an appointment for printing. The Print Office provides for the legal deposit of 7 copies and distributes 4 copies to the Mid Sweden University Library. Other distribution is managed by the author.
Publish digitally in DiVA
The registration of the thesis in DiVA is called electronic posting or "spikning" (see Vice-Chancellor´s decision No. 2008/560). The electronic "spikning" is compulsory and should be done 4 weeks before the public defence of the thesis. Save your thesis as one PDF-file to upload in DiVA. For copyright reasons the file should only contain the summarizing chapter ("kappan") for compilation theses, the papers are registered separately and linked to the thesis in the compilation thesis registration form.
Posting Ceremony
If, in addition to the electronic posting, you wish to have a physical posting ceremony at one of our campus libraries, you are welcome to contact the library to schedule an appointment.
Posting in the library means that a doctoral student ceremonially posts their doctoral thesis on our posting wall. The posting must take place at least three weeks before the defense. Make sure that the electronic posting is completed before the physical ceremony. One week before the ceremony, we would like you to send us the abstract, the posting leaflet, and possibly a photo of yourself. We will put these on the posting wall and put up an invitation to the ceremony. You are responsible for other invitations. For the ceremony itself, you should bring a copy of your thesis, which should be hole-punched in the upper left corner. You can get assistance with drilling from the maintenance staff. We provide a hammer and handmade nail, but you are welcome to bring your own if you wish.
