New student
Welcome to the Mid Sweden University Library!
How to obtain a library account
You get a library account when you activate your Miun-ID, register to a course and approve of the library lending rules. If you have not done this you can apply for a library account here.
Searching and borrowing
We keep three to four copies of course literature titles. The lending period for course literature is 10 days. Non-course literature are 30 day loans.
Use the library's search tool Miun Discovery to search for course books and other literature. In Miun Discovery you will also find e-books, articles, journals etc. If you want to know more about finding and borrowing books you can find information about that in The Library in Moodle.
You borrow books by using our self-service. Log in with your Miun-ID + your password. If the book you are looking for is not on the shelf, or if it is at the other campus library, you can make a reservation in Miun Discovery.
The books you have borrowed are automatically renewed when the loan period is nearing its end, as long as they are not reserved by anyone else. If the book can no longer be renewed, you will receive an e-mail requesting you to return the book.
When you are logged into Miun Discovery you have access to My account. In My account you can see your ongoing loans, manage your reservations and change your contact information. We send messages via email so make sure we always have your correct email address.
Distance education students
If you are a distance education student and live outside our two campus towns, Östersund and Sundsvall, you can get books sent to your address. Read more about our library distance education service.
Books and magazines online
To read the library's e-books and e-journals on your own computer, use your Miun-ID login.

You are welcome to sit and study at the library, either alone or in a group. If you're collaborating with others, there are available group rooms and spaces for group work. Please remember to show respect to your fellow students. Kindly turn off the sound on your mobile phone and computer while in the library, and use headphones while listening to music or lectures. Also, remember to keep your conversation volume low
