Why Östersund
Östersund loves skiing and skiers love Östersund. The city is home to a world-class ski and biathlon arena, 8km roller-ski track, artificial snow-making facilities to permit early skiing conditions in the autumn, excellent cycling infrastructure, several gyms and endless forest trails for running. From the ski arena it is just 1km to Mid Sweden University. Scandinavia’s premier alpine ski resort, Åre, is just 100km down the road for those looking for training facilities in alpine ski racing, freestyle ski and snowboard disciplines.
Dual Career
To study at the same time as being an elite athlete can be hard. We make it easier for you by offering possibilities to combine your sporting career with academic studies. We adapt your study pace so that you can focus on training and competitions when necessary and still make progress with your education. We have a lot of experience with dual career students who study and compete in their sport at a high level. Since becoming a Swedish National Sports University in 2018 we have developed our capacity to offer dual career support even to other sports than winter sports.
