Aim

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with in-depth knowledge in how to handle and process photographic digital capture and image processing, in order to achieve a professional outcome in publication, photographic print or screen publication.

Course objectives

After satisfactory completion of this course, the student is expected to be knowledgeable and skilled in:
- exposure for image capture and digital workflow.
- color calibrations for digital workflow.
- application of digital imaging software for image toning/editing.
- application of digital imaging software for moving images.

- color-calibration exercises
- digital capture techniques and workflow exercises
- exercises in processing of digital image files
- exercises in tools for anticipating/predicting final image result
- exercises in archiving, editing and storage of digital images
- exercises in digital output such as printing

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The teaching formats include seminars and workshops.

Examination form

A passing course grade requires a passing grade on exercises as well as attendance and active participation.
Attendance is obligatory at all seminars and workshops.
Absence and late assignments may have a negative inpact on the course grade.

Grading system

Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

Other information

Course meetings and exercises may take place during evenings and weekends. Any expenses for trips, materials and technical equipment are borne by the student.
Plagiarism is not allowed and will result in a notification being sent to the Vice-Chancellor of Mid Sweden University.
