Aim
The aim of the course is to:
Develop an awareness of basic graphic design theory from a communicative perspective.
Gain a working knowledge of common digital design tools and production workflow techniques.
Experience the conceptual and practical process behind developing design work for publishing.
Course objectives
After passing the course students shall
- be able to handle the basics of relevant digital design tools.
- be able to apply basic image theory.
- demonstrate basic knowledge of the production process.
- be able to produce a basic graphic product for publication.
- be able to apply basic rules for graphic design.
- demonstrate basic knowledge in photography and photo editing.
Content
Knowledge of graphic design.
Knowledge of rules and methods of composition.
Practical exercises in digital image handling.
Knowledge of layout and typography.
Knowledge of photo processing and photo manipulation.
Digital photography, imagery and file formats.
