The SHREC‑project
The SHREC project addresses the challenge of transition to a low carbon economy, in relation with renewable energy use of business and households facilitating them to invest in low-carbon, renewable energy measures reducing CO2 producing activities and shifting to activities with low CO2 footprint.
The aim of the project is to create better conditions for regional players, industry and academia to work together on the basis of the local challenges that prevail. This is done by drawing lessons from other European players and, for Mid Sweden University, by establishing a close relationship with responsible officials and politicians in Jämtland, Härjedalen and Västernorrland. In this way, active researchers, together with those responsible for the regional development funds, can proactively contribute to a smart specialization in the regional strategies and related calls and development projects. Mid Sweden University will also actively seek cooperation with representatives of municipalities and industries in the region within the framework of the project.
Mid Sweden University sees that there are great opportunities to create international networks for possible future research collaborations and also to gain more knowledge about how other European environments work to develop cooperation between regional companies and public organizations for sustainable growth. The collaboration is about taking advantage of the existing research environments and, if possible, using the research infrastructure to create a competitive region.
Mid Sweden University aims at "Programme under the investment for growth and jobs goal for Mid North Sweden Thematic objective 4 - Supporting the shift towards a low-carbon economy in all sectors."
