13.30-13:35 Opening and Welcome
Dr Wanjiku Kaime, Senior Lecturer and Researcher, Mid Sweden University, will moderate the Seminar.
13.35-14.25 Exiting prostitution
The first session will focus on the process of exiting prostitution and the care and support that is offered in Stockholm, Sweden. This session will mainly be held in Swedish.
What are the perspectives and experiences of caregivers from a Government institution and a civil society organization in organizing, implementing and offering care and support to young persons exiting prostitution? What are the experiences of young persons in receiving care and support through the two organisations? What support and care is needed for persons that have been exposed to prostitution?
Join senior researcher Dr Wanjiku Kaime, psychologist Josefine Karlsson, social workers Malin Andersson and Jenny Holmberg in a discussion of key findings and recommendations.
14.30-14.55 Who is responsible (Vem Bär Ansvaret)
A discussion of the findings with students representing three disciplines at Mid Sweden University – social work, psychology and nursing. This session will mainly be held in Swedish.
What institutions have the responsibility for providing care and support to young persons who exit prostitution in Sweden and thereby support them in ending the exploitation that takes place at their expense? Who does what? Who is expected to do what? How can the Government institutions work together to ensure good outcomes for those in need of support and care?
“Vem Bär Ansvaret” (Who is responsible) is an interprofessional project to create a meaningful exchange between students undergoing social work, psychology and nursing Education Programmes at Mid Sweden University.
15.00-15.30 Interventions for Non-Swedish nationals
A discussion of findings related to interventions for Non-Swedish nationals exiting prostitution in Sweden with H.E. Anna Ekstedt, Ambassador at Large for Combatting Trafficking in Persons. This session will be held in English.
What alternatives exist for Non-Swedish nationals that wish to exit prostitution? What standardized procedures are in place to facilitate work with this vulnerable group in relation to exit and access to rehabilitative services in Sweden? What mechanisms and partnerships exist and can be further developed in the countries of origin to support medium and long-term (re)habilitative and (re)settlement interventions after repatriation?
