Härnösand is growing fast | 1985 |
One of Campus Härnösand's most expansive periods is between 1985 and 1990. Both the engineering programs and the courses in the humanities are developed and the need for new premises is great.
Already in 1842, the navigation training and seminar training in Härnösand started. They are the starting point in the city's education history. The navigation education later became the Naval School, which around 1980 became part of the university.
In 1985, they had to shut down the Naval School due to reduced interest and chose to devote their skills to technical education in the field of operations and energy.
- It was a very positive period with substantial investments. House N and P were built and the lecture hall Sigma came into being, says Göte Högbom who was then the property manager at Mitthögskolan.
Another exciting event in Campus Härnösand's history is built by the common library for municipalities, county councils and colleges, with occupation on December 1, 1999.
- The building was preceded by many discussions. One did not really know how collaboration would occur because there was nothing like this in other places. However, it became a very successful solution where the collections of the municipality, county council and university are fully integrated with each other. In addition, it is a fantastic building, says Göte.
