Your state pension
For each year that you work and pay tax, you earn money on your state pension by means of the pension contributions that are paid in.

Your occupational pension
As one of our employees, you are covered by the government PA 16 pension agreement. This means that we pay funds into your occupational pension every month. PA 16 is a collective agreement that was negotiated with the union organisations representing government employees (OFR/S,P,O, Saco-S, Seko) together with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers.
There are two sections to the occupational pension agreement. Generally, you will belong to Section I if you were born in 1988 or later, and Section II if you were born before 1988:

Events in life that can affect your occupational pension
Sometimes, things happen in life that can affect your occupational pension. For example, you might start or end an employment, your family situation could change, or you might want to know more about a partial pension.

Time for retirement
When you have decided that you would like to retire, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. For example, remember to inform your supervisor about your plans. It could also be a good idea to check your projection at minpension.se and think about how you would like to receive your pension.

Your occupational pension consists of several different components. When and how you are able to receive your pension can vary.

How to apply
Each component of your occupational pension works a little differently.
- The elective component
- Your funds may be kept with various insurers. You apply for this component from the insurer that holds your money.
- How to apply for your elective component
- Kåpan Tjänste
- This component is managed by Kåpan Pensioner. Log in at kapan.se to choose from which age you would like to receive your funds and for how long.

- The defined benefit component
- If you are entitled to the defined benefit component, the National Government Employee Pensions Board (SPV) will contact you about seven months before you reach retirement age and ask whether you plan to continue working or retire. If you would like to retire earlier and receive this component, you should contact SPV.

- Funds from the state pension and other employment
- Apart from the occupational pension from your government employment, you can receive pension funds from elsewhere:
- Apply for your state pension from the Swedish Pensions Agency (in Swedish).
- If you have been employed in the private, municipal or county council sector etc., you may also have an occupational pension from there. Contact those who manage your occupational pensions from your previous jobs for further information about how to apply.
- You may also have funds from your own savings. In order to receive these, contact those who manage your funds, such as your bank or an insurance company.
