Bureanska Fund Scientific Prize
Nomination for the Burean Foundation Scientific Prize
Particularly good scientific achievements within Mid Sweden University may be considered for the prize. Nominations can be made in all subject areas within the University and must relate to achievements made during 2024 or 2025.
Nominations for scientific achievements are made by the departments. The nominations must be must be anchored with the head of department. A justification must be attached to the nomination. What can be considered for the prize must be a scientific achievement of high quality. It can be a scientific article, a patent, research that has received special attention outside Mid Sweden University, and more, regardless of how it has been expressed.
The prize for particularly good scientific achievements amounts to SEK 20,000.

The Bureanska Fund was founded in 1994 with the aim of working to raise the quality of education by annually recognising and rewarding the best bachelor's and master's theses in the humanities. Over time, the subject of human geography also came to be included in the prize.In the spring of 2011, the Bureanska Fund donated its capital to Mid Sweden University with the intention that the prizes will continue to be awarded by Mid Sweden University. In addition to prizes for the best bachelor's and master's theses, the prize is also awarded for particularly outstanding doctoral theses in the humanities and the subject of human geography. Furthermore, the Bureanska Fund Scientific Prize, which is intended to reward scientific achievements in all the University's subject areas, will be awarded.

Nomination of independent work and doctoral thesis for the Bureanska Foundation Prize
The Bureanska Fund awards the best bachelor's and master's theses as well as outstanding doctoral theses in the humanities and the subject of human geography.
Nominations are made by supervisors/examiners. The nomination is accompanied by a motivation and a copy of the nominated thesis or dissertation. Theses and dissertations should only be nominated if they achieve adequate quality.
- The prize amount for the best bachelor thesis is SEK 5,000.
- The prize amount for the best master's thesis is SEK 10,000.
- The prize sum for a particularly prominent doctoral thesis amounts to SEK 15,000

The prizes for bachelor's and master's theses are awarded in cash.The prize for a particularly prominent doctoral thesis is awarded in the form of cash if the prize winner does not hold employment at Mid Sweden University. If the prize winner is employed at Mid Sweden University, the prize amount is paid to the department and is available to the prize winner for costs related to the prize winner's research.

Nordea Scientific Prize
Nordea's Norrland Foundation annually awards a scientific prize to researchers at Mid Sweden University. The prize is awarded to researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of scientific research and development in primarily social sciences, legal sciences and computer science research areas. The prize may also include research within the Faculty of Medicine and Engineering with a focus on life sciences or other research areas that may be relevant if they are deemed to be relevant to banking.
Through their research, the prize winner must have achieved recognition and have great development potential. The research must be of benefit to the region and be deemed to be relevant to the bank's operations.
The prize money amounts to SEK 100,000 and is awarded in connection with Mid Sweden University's annual academic ceremony.

Nordeas travel grant
Nordea's Norrland Foundation is announcing travel scholarships for doctoral students at Mid Sweden University, Luleå University of Technology and Umeå University for scientific exchange, studies or research outside Sweden.
Application
The conditions for receiving the scholarship are as follows:- Applicants must be admitted to doctoral studies at one of the faculties at Mid Sweden University and be active in doctoral education.
- The scholarship must be used in connection with studies/research outside Sweden's borders no later than the following academic year after the scholarship decision.
- The purpose should be to promote scientific work and research of relevance to the bank and to be of benefit to the region.
- Feedback to the Foundation must be given via a short memo immediately after the stay abroad.
The application for a scholarship must contain information on:
- Purpose of the research
- Location/Department where the research will be conducted
- The duration of the stay
- Applicant's supervisor
- Cost calculation
The application must not exceed five pages.

Swedbank's Owner Foundation Norrland's Prize
Swedbank's Owner Foundation Norrland has established a prize for researchers for sustainable use of natural resources. The prize is awarded to a researcher who has contributed new knowledge that has, or will have, great significance for the field.
The Central Sweden region is rich in various natural resources. Perhaps the most important resource is the forest, which has meant and means a lot to the region's development. Sustainable use of forest resources will continue to be an important development force for our region in the future. Through this award, Swedbank's Owner Foundation Norrland wants to encourage and stimulate research and development in this important area.
The prize money amounts to SEK 50,000 and is awarded in connection with Mid Sweden University's Academic Ceremony.

The prize can be awarded to researchers at Mid Sweden University or external researchers of importance to the university who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of scientific research and development for sustainable use of natural resources.Through their research, the prize winner must have achieved recognition and have great development potential. Nominations for scientific achievements are made by the departments. The nominations must be anchored with the head of department. A justification must be attached to the nomination. An initial assessment of nominees is made by Mid Sweden University's assessment group for prioritizing applications. The prize winner is then appointed by a committee consisting of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, the deans from each faculty and a representative of Sparbanksstiftelsen Norrland. The five-penny prize
The Five-penny Prize recognises an employee of the University who has performed particularly commendable deeds in the field of science communication.
All staff at Mid Sweden University can nominate an employee at the university.
The nomination must include the name, position, department/division of the person being nominated. In addition, the jury wants a short justification (maximum 250 words) for why the person is nominated, and it is also possible to send links to material that supports the motivation.
A special jury, appointed by the Vice-Chancellor, decides who will be awarded the prize. The winner will be kept secret until the prize is awarded.
Forms for the price
The Five-penny Prize will be awarded every two years starting in 2025 and amounts to a maximum of SEK 50,000 for a trip, related to the laureate's service, to a popular science event within or outside Sweden. The prize winner also receives a diploma.Deadline for nominations

The Five-penny Prize is named after the Five-penny Association, which was founded in 1864 on the initiative of the 28-year-old Sami Ångermanland Maria Mathsdotter to establish schools in sparsely populated areas. The membership fee amounted to 5 penny per week.In "Annotatar om svenska qvinnor" (1864) by Wilhelmina Stålberg and P.G. Berg, Maria Mathsdotter is described as follows:
"She truly sets an example of a zeal that deserves to be followed not only by priests and other official guardians of light, but also by every friend of true enlightenment and popular education."
The purpose of the prize is precisely to reward and stimulate "the friends of the true enlightenment and popular education".

The Rolf and Gunilla Enström Foundation
The Rolf and Gunilla Enström Foundation for Research and Development offers the opportunity to apply for grants for research.
Conditions for applying
- Applied for funding must be intended to be used for research in Östersund and be conducted within one of the centres National Winter Sports Centre or Sports Tech Research Centre.
- The research the application relates to must be of benefit to the region.
- Feedback in the form of a written report and an oral presentation to the Foundation shall take place in connection with the Foundation's Board meeting at a time agreed between the Foundation and the Centre Director.
The total amount available may vary, but the foundation normally intends to distribute research funding of between SEK 500,000 and SEK 1 million per year. Within this framework, several applications may be granted.
Content of the application
- A clear description of the purpose of the research that includes the project's innovative thinking, utilisation, connection to past and future research, and how they relate to the research strategy of the environment in question.
- A description that shows how the project benefits both the region's and Mid Sweden University's development.
- The period of time for which the application relates. The project can have a multi-year structure, but follow-up takes place annually as well as decisions on continued funding.
- Projects can apply for partial funding from the Foundation as part of a larger entity with funding from other sources as well.
- Cost calculation
- Place and centre where the research will be conducted
Procedure
The University Management staff at Mid Sweden University is responsible for announcing the opportunity to apply for funding for the relevant activities, and after the application deadline, the centre directors and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research are given the opportunity to present the applications received to the Foundation's Board. The Enström Foundation then decides which applications to be granted.Timetable 2025

- May/June – Centre Director and Deputy Vice-Chancellor present the applications for the Enström Foundation. The Foundation's Board of Directors then decides which application(s) are granted.
