Call for proposals for increased internal research collaboration within IMD 2025
This call is part of the Department of Engineering Science, Mathematics and Subject Didactics' (IMD) ambition to create a stronger "We feeling" and increase our interdisciplinary and cross-site collaboration in research and education.
Background, purpose and objectives
In 2023, the Department of Engineering Science, Mathematics and Subject Education (IMD) conducted an internal call for research funding. The purpose of the call was to promote a stronger organisational affinity between different subject areas and locations within the new department, an aspect that the employees themselves expressed as important. This goal was also in line with one of the main objectives of the reorganization within NMT, which expressed visions of new collaborations and a renewal of research. The previous call led to many exciting project proposals and collaborations, which showed the potential of opening up for this type of research support. Given these positive experiences, IMD's management plans to carry out a new call in 2025.
The goal is to continue to strengthen IMD as a dynamic environment where research and education develop side by side and support each other. Therefore, this time too, a clear link to the undergraduate programmes will be sought. By encouraging initiatives that connect research with day-to-day teaching, we hope to create an integrated and engaging environment for both teachers and students. The ambition is that the projects proposed in this call will be able to contribute to developing the research focus within IMD and at the same time improve the content and quality of the education.
Scope and funding
In 2025, the department allocates SEK 1,000,000 via head of department funds for funding of project applications aimed at strengthening internal research collaboration. Project funding can be applied for for the implementation of smaller research projects or time for internal networking with the aim of creating a basis for external research funding. Granted funds will be used up in 2025.
