Key functions
ARC21 will affect a large number of employees. These are the key functions that lead the work.
The Research Council is the steering group for the research evaluation. The Research Council makes necessary decisions regarding the planning and implementation of the evaluation.
A working group is responsible for planning and implementation of the evaluation. The working group consists of:
- pro vice-chancellor, Håkan Wiklund (chairman of the working group)
- head of faculty office Karin Olsson (project leader for the Faculty of Human Sciences)
- head of faculty office Maria Torstensson (project leader for the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media medier
- coordinator Anna Haeggström, The Vice-Chancellor´s office
The working group coordinates the working process and prepares documents and instructions that are decided in the Research Council.
The project leaders lead and coordinate the faculty's internal work, including the work with the reports, and pass on information from the working group to those concerned.

The Faculties
The faculties are responsible for:
· Establishing UoA regarding research centers and subject research
· Establishing researchers' affiliation to UoA
· Collecting necessary data from UoA
· Participating in working group meetings (project leaders)
· Organizing internal peer review between UoA
· Determining the composition of expert panels for each Research Field within the faculty
· Compiling the evaluation documents for each UoA and submit these to the expert panels

University Library
In consultation with the faculty offices the University Library is responsible for:
· Compiling data regarding publication and citation for each UoA, in accordance with decided indicators for scientific quality and co-production.
· Helping UoA with the development and interpretation of the bibliometric data.

Division of Finance
In consultation with the faculty offices the Division of Finance is responsible for:
· compiling indicators relating to financing in accordance with decided indicators
· helping UoA to interpret economic indicators

Division of Human Resources
In consultation with the faculty offices the Division of Human Resources is responsible for:
· compiling indicators concerning staff in accordance with decided indicators
· helping UoA with additions to the documentation

Division of Communications
The Division of Communications is responsible for:
· Establishing a communication plan for the evaluation
· Coordinating internal communication

Subject representatives, planning area managers, directors of research centers, heads of departments
Subject representatives, planning area managers, directors of research centers, heads of departments are responsible for:
· compiling and sharing information (in accordance with decided indicators) about UoA to the faculties - information that cannot be found in central databases
· compiling self-evaluation to the faculties according to the decided format
· ensuring that researchers within UoA participate in internal peer review between UoA
· ensuring that researchers within UoA participate in site visits by expert groups
