Strategic cofunding
The vice-chancellor has decided to pay out an extra 25% of the sum intended for Mid Sweden University in projects granted by certain financiers. This should be considered a financial incentive, aimed at encouraging researchers to apply for research funding in competitive calls.
This should be considered a financial incentive, aimed at encouraging researchers to apply for research funding in competitive calls. (Such projects may of course include researchers at other universities. Researchers at other universities are however not eligible for strategic cofunding at MIUN.)
This decision applies to projects carried out at MIUN, and starting 1 July 2020, at the earliest. Specifically, this applies to research funding granted by The Swedish Research Council (VR), Formas, Forte, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, The Wallenberg Foundations and the EU framework programmes (funding granted in pillars 1 & 2). Note that where The Wallenberg Foundations are concerned, the decision applies to projects starting 22 October 2024 at the earliest. (Postdoc-projects carried out at another university domestically or abroad are not included, even if the funds for such projects are channeled through MIUN.)
The extra 25% will be granted to the department with which the project manager is affiliated, and how best to use the funds for research will be a topic for discussion, and will also be decided, by the project manager, the prefect, and other researchers involved in the project (if any). The money may not be used to cover unfunded indirect costs (OH), that is to say indirect costs not covered by the financier, since the extra money is specifically intended as a contribution to the research (activities).
In order to receive the strategic funds, please fill out the form in the Decision for Strategic Cofunding. The form should be sent via e-mail (grantsoffice@miun.se) or via mail to Grants Office, Avdelningen för Forsknings- och Utbildningsstöd, Akademigatan 3, Östersund.
