– My aim is to work closely with the department's faculty to gain insight into their research areas, thereby fostering collaboration on publications and ongoing projects. To facilitate this, we have scheduled various meetings and work sessions with researchers. During these interactions, we have exchanged ideas and engaged in discussions regarding research methodologies and the interrelationships between our respective research themes, including quality culture, leadership, circular economy, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

What can you say about your area of research?

– I am part of the Sustainable Improvement research group. Our focus lies in applied research, primarily geared towards businesses, where our goal is to continuous improve products, processes, and services towards greater sustainability. We seek to improve the triple impact of companies: environmentally, socially, and economically. To achieve this, we leverage the principles of the circular economy to uphold the value of resources, while applying concepts from quality management and continuous improvement to this emerging paradigm. Collaboration forms a cornerstone of our work, as we engage with both corporate entities and public organizations. As a tangible outcome of our research, we develop management methodologies and tools tailored for implementation by businesses and public bodies alike.

What is your impression of Mid Sweden university so far?

Overall, I appreciate Swedish culture for its warmth and attention to detail. Specifically, during my time at this university, I have enjoyed engaging in stimulating discussions within a supportive environment. I find the working environment to be conducive, and I am particularly impressed by the excellent facilities and spacious, pleasant campus. The favorable weather and the vibrant spring atmosphere in Ostersund have certainly contribute to my appreciation of the campus setting.

You live in Tecnun, in San Sebastian, and work in the School of Engineering at Universidad de Navarra. Why did you choose to come here?

– Well, I've been known several professors on this campus for some time now, and we've been discussing the possibility of collaborating together for a while. I've always held a keen interest in their work, particularly in the areas of quality and leadership, and I find that our research interests complement each other well. It's an exceptionally inspiring group, and I feel quite comfortable working alongside them. Additionally, gaining first-hand insight into the activities at the Ostersund campus has been truly valuable. It's presented me with an opportunity to strengthen our collaboration further, one that I'm certain will only improve in the coming months and years.
