How do we welcome our new students at the start of the semester?
Many of us have a large part in welcoming of our new students who will soon be joining our physical and digital campuses. On this page you can read about activities, information and support that we arrange centrally.
Feel free to tell your new students!
Welcome letter
The most important thing the student needs to be able to start their studies is in the welcome letter. There must be a date for the start of the course, a link to the schedule, lecture hall or zoom link and more.
It is you as the course or programme coordinator who is responsible for publishing specific information about the course or programme.
The Communications Office (KOM) has system responsibility and is responsible for the overall information in the letters and reminders to teachers.

Remember to log in to the Staff Portal if you are going to edit or publish welcome letters.
Digital introduction week – a head start
We have carried out the digital introduction week with student support and the student unions for about three years with very good attendance. New for this year is that KOM arranges it the week before the start of the semester. This is because the start week of the semester is usually very hectic. We call it a False Start.
- 26–30 August, 12:30–13:00 via Zoom (Swedsih)
- We also offer two sessions in English during the start week of the semester
- To the digital introduction week (in Swedish)
Introduction days for international students
Arranged by the International Relations Office August 29–30.
To the program
The ice cream truck on campus
On the start of the semester, KOM has booked the ice cream truck for a visit to our campuses to welcome all new and existing students on board with an ice cream boat. The ice cream truck will be on site on 2 September between 12–13 outside building N in Sundsvall and outside building G in Östersund.
Welcome days on campus
For the third semester, Mid Sweden University and the Mid Sweden Chamber of Commerce are holding welcome days within the framework of the Competence Compass project.
The day is arranged for both new and existing students. They get to meet representatives from our student support, local and regional employers, municipalities and associations. Anyone who can give students ideas on what they can do in their spare time and tips on help in their studies.
- 3 September at 11–13 in Östersund, the light hall
- 5 September at 11–13 in Sundsvall, Grönborg
- Feel free to encourage your students to participate before or after their lectures!

The website for new students
The page to which we refer new students has been redesigned and simplified. This is so that the students can more easily find checklists and other things they need during their first time with us. It is also divided into campus and distance students. This is for the page in Swedish.
Service Center & IT Support
The service center is usually the one students come into contact with first, on campus or via email and phone. During the period Wednesday 28 August–Wednesday 4 September at 10–14, IT support will have extra staffing in the Service Center to be able to help with MiunID, Eduroam and other IT-related matters. This is to relieve the Waiters.
Information email
At admission notices International Realations Office sends out information emails to all students with, among other things, links to checklists, introduction days, welcome letters and welcome days.
Kick-off weeks with the Student Union
In addition to our own activities centrally and introductory days for individual programs at each department, kick-off weeks are arranged by the Student Unions in Sundsvall and Östersund.
