The deadline for the sabbatical and visiting professorship is before Easter

Mon 24 Mar 2025 09:16

Mid Sweden University’s internal initiative to fund visiting professors and stays abroad, so-called sabbaticals, is a four-year initiative, extending between 2025 – 2028. It is a part of MIUN’s internationalisation initiative. Here is a reminder that the deadline for this year’s call is 11 April.

Compared to last year’s call, there are not many changes in this call. In the previous call, we wrote that applicants who had not previously received internal funds for a sabbatical would be given priority. In this call, we write that it is junior researchers and also applicants who have not previously received internal funds for a sabbatical that will be given priority. (This of course probably begs the question ‘who is a junior researcher?’. See the call page (link below), and do note that we in the QnA-section there define who is a junior researcher for the purpose of the sabbatical call, but not for the visiting professor call. It will instead have to be decided on a case-by-case basis who is a junior employee that can be mentee for a visiting professor.)

A decision on the allocation of funds will be made by the pro vice-chancellor in May 2025 on the basis of a proposal from an assessment group consisting of the pro vice-chancellor, representatives of the two faculties and the student unions. Use of funds can start right away, and funds will be available until the end of 2026 (for sabbaticals) and until the end of June 2027 (for visiting professors).

Contact person for the call: Torbjörn Westerlund at FUS.
