Career Day for PhD Students 20 March
As a PhD student at Mid Sweden University, you are more than welcome to participate in this Career Day!
The day begins with an inspirational talk given by Åsa Bergman, CEO at Sweco and honorary doctor at Mid Sweden University. Afterwards we will eat lunch together followed by an understanding of how to prepare for your job search within academia. We conclude with two PhD alumni from each faculty who will share their paths from PhD studies to careers.
Program
11.00-12.00: Key note speaker: Åsa Bergman, CEO and President of Sweco and Honorary Doctor at Mid Sweden University
Åsa will present her career journey and describe in what way PhD competence is utilized within Sweco and industry.
12.00-13.00: Lunch at the campus restaurant
13.00-14.00: Planning an academic career while working on a PhD thesis
The session is led by Maria Lexhagen and Håkan Edlund. Maria is Professor in tourism studies and has been a member of the faculty council for third-cycle education. Håkan is Professor of Physical Chemistry and Chairman of Academic Appointments Council.
14.00-15.00: Career Paths – inspiring examples from two PhD alumni from each faculty
15.00-15.30: Conclusion and Coffee
