The Coordination Group for Sustainability at Mid Sweden University is now launching a new webinar series with a focus on sustainable development, the environment and climate. During three digital meetings this spring, current research from three researchers will be highlighted.

All three researchers participating in the seminar series have a great commitment to the environment and also an unexpected common denominator: they are all called Jennie or Jenny.

The initiative is part of the group's effort to renew its meetings, after a recent sustainability survey among employees and students showed a great commitment to the issue. The results also showed a desire for clearer leadership and more opportunities for knowledge exchange in the area.

"We want to capture the strong interest and create a platform where researchers, teachers, students and other interested parties can meet and be inspired," says Therese Eriksson, research officer at FUS and member of the coordination group.

The program for the webinars

April 24 – Jennie Sandström: Biodiversity in the garden
How can small changes in our immediate environment contribute to increased biodiversity? Jennie Sandström talks about the importance of gardens and forests as living ecosystems – and about outreach work in practice.

June 5 – Jennie Olofsson: Electronic waste – risk or resource?
What happens to our old electronic gadgets? Jennie Olofsson guides us through the complex journey of waste and discusses how we can see e-waste as both a challenge and a potential resource.

June 12 – Jenny Zimmerman: Hydrogen and crayfish
An unexpected meeting between industry and nature. Jenny Zimmerman explores how hydrogen development affects our aquatic environments and what consequences this can have for ecosystems.

The webinars take place from 9.00 to 9.45 and are open to all staff and students at Mid Sweden University. Registration is made to Therese Eriksson, therese.eriksson@miun.se
