Teams
Introduction and training – Teams
Teams is your digital collaboration platform where you can create groups for your institution, department, or project. Here, you can easily share files, collaborate in real time, and keep everyone updated in one place. You can also integrate external applications to streamline workflows. Teams also makes it easy to chat, make phone calls, and participate in conversations and online meetings – all to facilitate communication and collaboration within your team.
Working in Teams
Channels:
In Teams, work is organized into channels within each team. Channels are used for discussing specific topics, departments, or projects, and they are used for text, audio, and video conversations, as well as file and app sharing. There are three types of channels:
- Standard channels (open to all team members)
- Private channels (for specific people)
- Shared channels (for collaboration within and outside the organization)
Each channel has tabs to organize content. The Posts tab shows all conversations, where you can reply to messages in threads.
On the Files tab, shared files are stored. You can also add apps or files to additional tabs.
Notifications can be customized per channel, and you can sort, hide, or group channels for better overview and management.
Chats
In Microsoft Teams, chats are used for instant messaging between you and others. Chats are private and visible only to the people you’re communicating with. You can chat with one or more people, making collaboration easier and reducing the number of emails.
There are two types of chats in Teams:
- Private chats between two or more people
- Group chats, where multiple people can participate in the same discussion
In a chat, you can share files, images, links, and even start video meetings directly from the chat. You can also react to messages with emojis and @mentions to draw attention to specific people.
You can organize your chats by marking important conversations or hiding those you no longer need to keep an overview.

Team Telephony
Team Telephony allows you to make and receive calls directly within Microsoft Teams. This service provides you with two phone numbers: a landline number (010-) and a mobile number (07x-), both of which are connected to the phone system.
As Teams is our primary communication channel for telephony, it's important to remain logged in whenever you're at your computer. This ensures colleagues can reach you easily and assists our receptionists when they receive calls for you.
