A public defence of a doctoral thesis is the occasion when the doctoral student presents his or her thesis. Decisions on public defences are made by the dean following a proposal from the department. Only one thesis defence can be held per day within the faculty.

Booked times for dissertations and licentiate seminars
Below are current booked times for licentiate seminars and dissertations at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media. Booking is primarily allowed during semester times, but is also possible up to two weeks after the end of the spring semester.

Instructions for registering a public defence
Here you will find what is required to register for a public defence - rules, timetables and forms.
In order for the notification of the public defence to be handled by the faculty office, the application must be prepared and planned well in advance, preferably more than three months before the planned date of the public defence.
For a complete description of the procedures for public defences at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media, please refer to the procedure description below.
Inform administrator John Håkansson what time you wish to book as soon as possible. Only one dissertation or licentiate seminar is allowed to be held on a given day.
Contact the printing house, Jörgen Carlsson as soon as the date for the public defence is booked. Periodically, many people have to print their theses, so it can be difficult to get a time for printing that fits the planned graduation date. If you have to change the date for printing/proofing, you must make sure that the printing company is informed of this so that they can change their planning.
