Hello!

A warm welcome to the course Human Geography BA (A), Introduction to Human Geography and as a student at Mid Sweden University.

Welcome to the course KG056G, which is the Introduction to Human Geography. This is a ten-week course worth 15ECTS. My name is Dimitri Ioannides and I am a professor of Human Geography with many years of experience of teaching both in the US and in Sweden. I hope that you will find the course interesting as well as educational. I look forward to meeting you all.

The course begins on January 20th and lasts over ten weeks to the end of March. Although the course in offered in a blended format (simultanously in the class and online) If you are registered as a campus student in Östersund then you are expected to attend the lectures and seminars in the classroom. Online students are also expected to attend via Zoom in real time. The lectures are not recorded.

This course plan informs you about the purpose of the course, the learning objectives and describes the types of assignments you will have to complete to pass the course. Before you can begin your studies, there are three things you need to do

1. Create a student account 

As a new student, you need to create a student account to get access to the university´s e-services, such as Ladok, where you can register for courses and examinations, see your study results, and access the University Library´s e-services, as well as the learning platform Moodle.

Please note that the earliest date to create your student account is 20 days before the beginning of the course (spring term) or 30 days before the begging of the course (autumn term).

If you have a Swedish personal identification number (format: yyyymmdd e.g., 198101201111) you can verify your identity using EduID. International students without a Swedish identity number must verify their identity using Antagning.se.

2. Read through the current syllabus

3. Register for your course

You must register for all of the courses you want to take during the semester. Register on Course: miun.se/registration

You can register no earlier than three workdays before the beginning of the course. It is important that you register for each course.
