English linguistics is a subject where you learn how the English language is structured and functions. You will also learn how to adapt your language in different ways depending on the situation and context. English linguistics as an academic subject at Mid Sweden University provides opportunities for studies at undergraduate level (A, B and C) and at advanced level.
At undergraduate level, courses focus on grammar analysis, studies of the culture and society of English-speaking countries, and oral and written language skills. There is also the opportunity to develop a general linguistic perspective on the language and to further develop skill training and linguistic analysis skills. Students at first level complete their studies by deepening their knowledge of and in language and linguistic theories through the writing of a scientific essay.
At advanced level, courses are offered on linguistic methods, which in turn can be put to practical use in the writing of a final scientific paper.
The department also offers broad courses in language skills, such as oral and written business English.
