Social Work
Social work is a subject that is particularly focused on people's social and economic vulnerability.
In order to meet the social challenges of, among other things, children and young people who are abused, the elderly, homelessness, mental and physical disabilities, substance abuse/addiction, segregation and exclusion, knowledge of the subject of social work is needed. The subject of social work at Mid Sweden University is part of an international research and education field of knowledge production and dissemination of knowledge to promote social justice. Research in social work aims to understand social problems at the individual, group and societal levels, as well as critically analyze the reasons behind their emergence, prevalence and extent in order to identify supportive, preventive and remedial efforts at local, national and global levels.
In addition to the social work education, Mid Sweden University regularly offers courses for those who are engaged in social issues and interested in understanding and changing people's living conditions in Sweden and in the world.
