Computer science
The increasing digitization in society places increased demands on computers and systems to be adapted to the special needs that exist in the operations. We live in a competitive society in constant change where technological development should facilitate our jobs and streamline our operations.
Through computer science, you will gain both a technical and business-oriented foundation for understanding the interplay between information systems and operations.
Digitization projects often entail major changes where both the organizations' internal processes and external relationships with customers, citizens, suppliers and other actors are affected. What they have in common is that there are systems and applications that enable these changes and will bring about development in the operations.
The overall focus of computer science at Mid Sweden University is business development. We approach business development from two perspectives. Technology-oriented in that we have courses that provide basic knowledge and methodology for the development of systems and databases. Operation-oriented in that we have a process-oriented model and development perspective for analysis and development of the business. Our students thus gain the ability to act as a bridge between technology and the actors in the business.
When you study computer science at Mid Sweden University, you will receive basic courses in programming languages and methods and tools for program and database design. This is combined with a focus on business-oriented courses with models and methods for analysis and development of processes and architecture in the business.
Mid Sweden University's research in computer science focuses on enterprise architecture, where different organizations use models and tools to describe their processes, information and systems, and have architects to work on managing and integrating these models into the business.
Our courses in computer science are mainly given as distance learning. You can take courses independently or divided into three course blocks, A, B and C.
