Journalism
The basic idea of journalism is to scrutinise power, inform citizens and contribute to debate and discussion. Independent journalism is a prerequisite for a functioning democracy.
Journalism has no ulterior purposes or interests. If you are a journalist, you should instead enlighten, critically examine, explain what is difficult, seek out irregularities and contribute to debate and discussion.
The subject of journalism at Mid Sweden University includes both theoretical and practical elements. It is about finding, sorting and processing information in a source-critical and analytical way. It is also about presenting and packaging the content in an accessible way in different channels and media.
Mid Sweden University offers a three-year degree programme in journalism, as well as a supplementary course in journalism for academics for those who already have a bachelor's degree.
We also offer several distance courses that are relevant for both those who are professionals and those who want to learn individual parts of journalism.
