Mathematics
Mathematics is both a universal language and an independent conceptual system. It helps us to describe reality but also to understand what lies beyond our usual powers of observation. Mathematics makes it possible to formulate things that everyday language is not capable of.
Mathematics plays a central role in science and technology. New problems are constantly arising where you need to use and develop advanced mathematics. It can be methods for measuring climate change, models for evolution or about image transfers between phones. In addition, the number of applications is increasing all the time, partly with new natural fields such as computer science and financial mathematics, but also with traditional social science areas, as the strength of mathematical tools and models is discovered. Studying mathematics can therefore lead to many different areas and professions.
The mathematics courses are divided into undergraduate, advanced and postgraduate levels. Courses at the undergraduate level are given on campus in Sundsvall and Östersund and as distance courses.
